With home finances continuing to be stretched, consumer champion and TV presenter Dom Littlewood has said that social media can help people bag a bargain.
He says that the continuing growth of social media across all parts of families, from young through to older generations, is helping people save an extra few pounds here and there.
What’s more, he says, the fact that more companies are branching out into social media means that there are increasing benefits to be had from shopping online.
“Social media has probably had the largest affect on anything – modern technology now has made finding deals and discounts very easy,” he said.
“Certainly with social media now it’s very easy for the deals to come to us rather than having to search them out.
“If you’re not online, you need to start thinking that you might be missing out on something here.”
Products such as coupons, vouchers and promotional codes have proven popular over the course of the recession as homes look to keep an eye on their purse strings.
