Frank Lampard showed his admiration for former boss Jose Mourinho by bidding on the football manager’s Fiat 500 car at a recent charity auction in London.
The car was one Mourinho had himself purchased for £18,000 at last year’s auction and then donated back.
However, the Chelsea star was pipped to the post when his offer of £12,500 was beaten by Alex McLeish’s £15,000 offer at the Nordoff Robins charity event.
To add insult to injury, Lampard found himself the butt of compere Geoff Shreeves’ jokes with the host saying that buying Mourinho’s car could be the only way that Lampard makes it into his team, reports Goal.
Overall, the charity event raised around £350,000 for the good cause with other lots including a commemorative book containing signatures and messages from the top 20 icons of Premier League history.
