Graduate puts job opportunity under the hammer
At this moment, we here at borro are yet to lend against an actual human being, despite the practice appearing in a number of different guises over the past few months and years.
It’s nowhere near as heinous as it sounds, in fact, it’s usually done with a positive end result in mind. For instance, remember the story about the Olympic hopeful who auctioned sponsorship in order to raise training funds?
Well, according to the Scotsman, one Scottish graduate is in the process of auctioning off the chance to interview him or a job, with all proceeds going to charity.
24-year-old Ross Laing, who has accumulated over £10,000 in student debt, hopes that the venture will not only lead to him tying down a job but will also raise some money for a worthy cause.
Mr Laing told the newspaper: “I’ve been searching for a job in the field of marketing since the summer of 2011. I have applied for around 150 jobs with little feedback and never an interview. I decided enough was enough and started to think out of the box.”
Very ‘out of the box’ indeed Ross, best of luck with it. Not only will it improve job prospects and help a charity, it will also look very good on the CV too, we would venture.
