Hollywood Rolls Royce to be sold at auction
A Rolls Royce Phantom I Playboy Roadster formerly owned by one of Hollywood’s finest cowboy actors, Tom Mix, is set to fetch £130,000 at auction.
The 1927 model is expected to create a real buzz when it goes under the hammer at a special motor auction in Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire this weekend.
Mr Mix purchased the car in 1933 and added a number of modifications which are still present too.
These include new lowered headlights, updated wings as well having an ultra-modern (at the time) radio being built into the dash.
The 85 year old motor, which was driven by Robert Redford in the 1965 film Daisy Clover, still has an impressive top speed of 90mph.
Coys’ auctioneer, Chris Routledge told the Daily Mail: “The valuation on this car is about what we’d expect but because of the brilliant history that comes with it, the sky really is the limit for how much this car will sell for.”
