Our expert valuation team sourced from leading London and International auction houses including Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Bonhams, have over 100 years combined experience.

With a strong understanding of the constantly developing market, the team have excellent auction house connections and an acute awareness of current trends in the picture, fine art, gold, diamonds and luxury car market.

Samantha Lilley - Head of Valuation

Samantha heads the valuation team and is responsible for regulating all valuations on behalf of borro. She is a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and has completed the Diamond Grading Diploma. She is also a Member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, serving on the Arts and Antiques Faculty Board from 2003 until 2011 and has over twenty years auction house experience in the valuation of fine art, antiques and jewellery. Before joining borro Samantha was a General Valuer based in the London and European Valuations Department at Bonhams Auctioneers, she was also Head of Department, European and Oriental Costume and Textiles for the Bonhams Group and Head of Sale for European Costume and Textiles with Christie’s.

Mark Longley - Senior Valuer

Mark is a qualified member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors with over 15 years experience in the valuation in fine art and antiques. Before joining borro, Mark spent 12 years working within Christie’s London Valuations Department as a Senior Valuer. He has also worked in the industry for a number of years as a fine art dealer, acting as consultant to many important businesses and private clients. Mark specialises in the valuation of Fine Wines and Fortified Wines.

Helen Doyle - Valuation Manager

Helen is responsible for valuations and all retail at borro. Helen is a qualified Gemmologist specialising in the valuation of jewellery and watches and has completed the Practical Gem Diamond Certificate with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. She has over six years experience at leading auction houses including Bonhams Jewellery Department at Knightsbridge London and before that worked in the jewellery retail industry.

Annabel Zarandi - Valuation Executive

Annabel has been awarded the FGA Foundation certificate with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and has over four years auction house experience latterly working within Bonhams Jewellery Department at New Bond Street London. In addition to her specific auction house experience, Annabel has a wealth of retail and commercial experience within the jewellery trade.

Justin Roberts - Senior Valuation Consultant

Justin has spent nearly twenty years as a Senior jewellery Specialist and Historian working in several leading international auction houses. Starting his career at Phillips auctioneers working in both London and Geneva as a jewellery expert, he was later appointed a Deputy Director of Sotheby’s, where as a Senior Specialist he worked on the valuation and sale of several highly important jewellery collections. In 2002 he became a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and is also an Associate of the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers. In 2011 he was he was admitted as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and soon after was awarded the Freedom of the City of London. He currently works as an independent jewellery consultant and historian and has given lectures to several organisations including the V&A Museum and Sotheby’s Institute.
